The Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Osun State is one of the new Universities established in 2021 by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The Federal University of Health Sciences is a specialized one with focus on Health, Nutrition and Medical Sciences and it is expected to lay a foundation for building National preparedness and resilience in anticipation of future challenges in the health sector while also reducing medical tourism abroad. As the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, the task of planning and putting together resources to kick start and nurture the University therefore becomes crucial and of special interest to me. Having considered the topography, this master plan has been developed to cover the 471.88 hectares of Federal University of Health Sciences land for an orderly and coherent evolution and growth of the University campus. I am therefore optimistic that our noble effort in putting up the master plan will lay a foundation for an orderly, efficient and coherent evolution and growth of the University of Health Sciences illustrating the future size, quality and location of campus land use and facilities from inception to maturity. COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Ila-Orangun people and its leaders, particularly, the Traditional Leaders of Ila-Orangun, have been very hospitable and supportive to University since its establishment. The pioneer leaderships of the University have done an excellent work of establishing and sustaining a mutually beneficial relation with our host community. Therefore, we made sure we build upon that through; the recruitment of more junior staff and security personnel on casual basis from Ila-Orangun and neighbouring towns.
COLLABORATION/AFFILIATION
The University had and is still into collaborations/affiliations with so many National and International Organizations and Universities like UNICEF, DFID, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal and State Universities in Osun State, Other Tertiary Institutions, National Teachers Institute (NTI) Universal Basic Education (UBEC), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) etc.
INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
Our University has enjoyed an exceptional unbreakable chain of harmonious industrial relations between the Management and the staff and students Unions. This is partly because our Governments have been considerate and responsive to the welfare of staff and students and partly because the University was lucky to have been blessed with Managements and Union Leaders that always put common interests above personal interests and worked hard for the development of the University.
