The Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun (FUHSI), successfully hosted the 2024 Staff Merit Awards on December 19, 2024, recognizing the exceptional dedication and achievements of its teaching and non-teaching staff.

This event, initiated by the Vice-Chancellor, was designed to celebrate excellence within the FUHSI community. The 2024 Merit Awards Committee, chaired by Prof. Aderogba Mutalib Adeniran, meticulously reviewed submissions from various faculties and departments using 17 carefully defined parameters to identify the most deserving individuals.

Awardees:

  • Teaching Staff Category:
    Dr. Rabiu Akeem Ganiu from the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, was honored for his exceptional productivity. His contributions included three published articles, two of which are Scopus-indexed with high impact factors (4.0 and 3.22), and a grant. Dr. Ganiu was also the first author in two of these works, showcasing his leadership in academic research.
  • Non-Teaching Staff Category:
    Mr. Idowu Abayomi Faruq, a Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) from the Works and Physical Planning Unit, was recognized for his tireless efforts and technical expertise. As the sole quantity surveyor in the university, his contributions have been pivotal in managing the physical infrastructure and ongoing construction projects, working diligently even during weekends to meet the university’s needs.
