The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Prof. M.A Adeleke has been elected as a member of the Technical Coordinating Committee (TeCC) of the Reaching the Last Mile Fund Project (RLMF). RLMF is a global coalition of countries, donors, and partners working to accelerate the elimination of Onchocerciasis and Lymphatic Filariasis from Africa and Yemen (from 39 countries).
RLMF is a 777 million US Dollars global health endowment funded by the President of the UAE and Gates Foundation, USA. About 500 million US Dollars are expected to be expended to fight for the elimination of the two diseases in 39 countries by year 2030.
Prof Adeleke is an international scholar of repute with specialization in Public Health Entomology and Parasitology, Molecular Epidemiology and Environmental Health. He will serve a two-year tenure as a member of Technical Coordinating Committee renewable for another two years upon completion of first tenure.
While congratulating Prof Adeleke, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Akeem Olawale Lasisi expressed confidence in his ability to make positive contribution to this global effort while wishing him the best in his new role.
