The Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI) was established in June 2021 by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The university was conceptualized as a specialized institution dedicated entirely to health, medical, and allied sciences.
The establishment of FUHSI was a response to the growing demand for healthcare professionals in Nigeria, aimed at addressing the critical national shortage of doctors, nurses, medical laboratory scientists, and other allied healthcare practitioners. It also serves as a hub for biomedical research in the West African sub-region.
Located in the ancient city of Ila-Orangun in Osun State, Nigeria, the university inherits a serene learning atmosphere with access to local teaching hospitals and community clinics, facilitating comprehensive, practice-based learning from day one.
Our curriculum is specifically engineered to combine rigorous scientific education with hands-on clinical experience and community health service.
The foundational pillars guiding the academic and moral standards of our institution
